Wow! Has it been that long??? 4 months!!!!!
OK. I'm back. With some vengeance!
It was the last day at Ho Chi Minh City - and many things were left undone. But there was one sight that we just could not miss! So while the students did their last minute shopping, Carol and I went off searching for the famous Coconut Ice Cream!
It is at this place called Bach Dang. Where is it? Hhmmm.... if you go out of BenThanh Market and the huge roundabout is across the road, you just head towards yr left. Keep walking and you'll arrive there.
Sori but we were in such a rush that i cannot remember how long it took. Suffice to say, i've never seen Carol walked that fast before!!!!
So was it all worth it?
Here it is:-
It was topped with local fruits - watermelon, dragon fruit, dessicated cocunut, and some other fruit! Personally, i thought that the fruits did not add anything to it. But Carol thought otherwise.
What is more important was the ice cream itself. Below the fresh fruits.
And it was REALLY GOOD!!!!!
The ice cream was smoooooooth! Like Rob Thomas and Santana! It was of high quality! I just had Baskin Robbins last nite and was disappointed to find tiny pieces of ice in the ice cream. You will not find such things here.
The taste was good too! But then again, there is no reference point for comparisons since you seldom get cocunut flavoured ice cream. But it tasted good, it wasn't too sweet and the coconut taste was pretty authentic! How more authentic can it get when it was served in a coconut shell itself - after finishing the ice cream, you can still scrape the coconut flesh off the shell and enjoy it.
Excellent stuff! the weather there just complements it. It is so hot and humid and the coolness and refreshing taste of the ice cream just melts the heat away.
And what a better way to round it off than by having a cup of real Vietnamese drip coffee? I love the coffee there! :-)
